Graphic Novel Exhibition 20th May 2016
On Friday the 20th of May, the year five children shared their graphic novel work with the rest of the school. To complete their projects, they had to:
- plan and write a 5 paragraph adventure story
- convert the story to graphic novel format by planning how best to represent each sentence with a picture
- make all the artwork for the graphic novel
- design a computer game based on the story and write an advert for it
The exhibition was very successful, with visitors including staff, children and parents.

The children in Year 5 have been learning about the history of slavery in the United States of America. Lataya produced this piece of writing independently, at home, having been inspired by the stories of the struggles of the slaves and their daring escapes from their enslavement.
This piece of writing contains the techniques we have been studying in class:
  • Fronted adverbials of time, place and manner
  • Description of emotions, using various methods
