Scotholme's Shutdown Singy Song
Thank you to everyone who sent in samples of music to Mr Gardner.
Here is the final song in all it's glory. We think it is pretty cool!

Delfines clapping games
This is a recording of a music warm-up activity in year 2. You can hear the children playing ‘don’t clap it back’ (in which they have to copy all rhythms except one) and a call and response rhythm that they helped to create. These games are used to develop listening, memory and collaboration.

Year 3 Himalayas soundscape
The children in year 3 have been investigating the Himalaya mountains. They performed this soundscape using voices and various instruments to reflect the mood and features seen in a painting of a mountain path.

Year 4 Ukulele compositions
These compositions were written with the notes of the four strings of the ukulele. The children in each class decided what order to play the notes in and what kind of accompaniment they wanted.

Year 6 WW1 soundscape
The children in year 6 have been learning about the first world war. This soundscape was made using recordings of only three objects: a tin can, a newspaper and a knife. These were chosen to reflect the objects available to soldiers in the trenches. The children began by finding as many ways as possible to make sounds with these objects. The recordings of these sounds were then edited in Audacity to change their pitch and timing. Finally, the sounds were layered together.
You can also hear the soundscape behind the poetry written by Year 6 in response to their WW1 work.

Year 6 number sequence compositions
The children in year 6 experimented with using number sequences as a compositional tool. We began by assigning the digits 0 to 9 to each note of the C major scale. Each child then chose and wrote out a number sequence. The digits in the sequence told us which notes to play and in which order, but we needed to use our imagination to decide on rhythm and timing. Some children even got as far as adding accompaniment to their compositions.

Sara tried her composition in two different ways: first, playing each note individually, then grouping notes together into chords.
